To whom it may concern:

As former Director for Literacy and current Leadership Development Director at the El Paso Collaborative for Academic Excellence it has been a pleasure to work with Susan Radley Brown as a consultant in literacy curriculum and leadership reforms. Susan brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and best practices in the area of reading and writing. Susan has acted as a consultant and critical friend from1999 to the present in the citywide standards-based literacy initiative being instituted in over 55 elementary and secondary schools in the El Paso area.

Ms. Radley Brown is a “hands on” consultant and critical friend. Her work reaches teachers and administrators in a practical way-one where they can see immediate application. Her personal experience and knowledge of the content makes her a credible leader and presenter. She has the ability to capture an audience and then push them to accept challenges, which felt almost unreachable.

As Program Director, I value her focused support and ability to push my own conceptual framework for the work. As a critical friend she supports the organization in addressing both short and long-term goals and roll out of the work. Because she understood the big picture she was able to frame and deliver professional development that supported our immediate efforts and those of the future.

I am confident she will be an asset to your organization. Please feel free to contact me if additional information is needed.

Sincerely,
Michele Wells, Director
Leadership Development
