Lisa Peterson has been a Accelerated Literacy Learning consultant since 2006. In this capacity, she has provided schools with support in implementing A.L.L.’s curriculum units and in strengthening literacy instruction in classrooms city-wide. As part of her professional development work, she has facilitated summer institutes, workshops, team meetings, modeled demonstration lessons and one-on-one coaching. Her particular areas of expertise are accountable talk, literature circles, and reading and writing in the content areas. Prior to joining A.L.L., Lisa spent nearly fifteen years as a classroom teacher and staff developer, first in New Orleans and then in New York City. As a teacher, she was fortunate enough to participate in several curriculum initiatives, including the District Six laptop technology program, the Ramp-Up to Literacy program, and Understanding by Design curriculum planning. Lisa received her M.S. Ed. from Bank Street College of Education in 1998 and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University in 1990.
