The word "revision" literally means, "to see again." In this four-session Online Professional Development series, Andrea Hess, will help participants reimagine what revision can look like in their writing workshop. Teachers will learn many explicit revision strategies and techniques that they can take right back to their classrooms for immediate results. Strategies learned can be applied to many different genre studies and adapted for various elementary grade levels. The Common Core anchor writing standards ask students to "develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising and editing" with guidance and support from peers and adults. This Online Professional Development will provide teachers with the tools necessary to teach students how to revise their writing and enjoy the process! Some revision topics that will be included are: differentiating revision from editing, writing better leads/ endings, zooming in/ zooming out to add more details, developing characters, revising by adding dialogue, action and thought revising titles learning and from mentor authors & reading like a writer.
