In an era of increased accountability, effective school leadership for literacy is essential to the development and continued improvement of an elementary school. In this webinar series, Judi presents the principles of effective literacy leadership and shares well established methods for improving writing instruction in each and every classroom. Participants will leave this webinar with the ability to identify best practice for creating strong rigorous writing programs aligned to the Common Core Standards. They will understand how to differentiate professional development to meet the needs of all teachers, ways to build leadership skills that create a culture of inquiry and accountability with and strategies for engaging the community around writing. Specific concrete suggestions for ways that school leaders can build capacity and expand teacher leadership in order to improve writing instruction will be shared. Strategies for bringing together parents, teachers and community members to move the literacy agenda will also be reviewed.
