Specifically designed to provide educators with the strategies and skills they need to dramatically increase student achievement and draw out the genius in every student. Find out what is required to move an entire school or district to perform at higher and more satisfying levels of professionalism.

Immerse yourself for 5 days in the latest expert strategies, methods and insights of Lucy West whose seminal book, Content-Focused Coaching: Transforming Mathematics Lessons, "raised the bar for American education;" and Susan Radley Brown whose literacy units of study have effectively impacted curriculum in districts nationwide. This dynamic team of Mater Coaches repeatedly turns failing schools into successful learning communities.

The institute will:
  • provide a practical “How To” road map to coach effectively
  • identify the missing ingredients in your present instructional practices
  • create real and lasting change in how teachers design lessons to meet the differentiated needs of their students
  • illuminate clearly and eliminate quickly the root causes of the challenges that prevent change
  • place the role of the coach in a transformative light
  • assist participants in developing personal, professional and political astuteness for creating a coaching culture in their school or district
  • offer strategies for coaches to handle issues of scheduling time, focus, goal setting, resources, attitudes and access

The participants will:
  • learn the secrets of masterful coaching that transform low performing districts into high performing districts
  • break through the obstacles so that every teacher in every classroom teaches every student to reach high levels of success
  • discover the fastest, most powerful way to establish a collaborative learning community
  • develop useful techniques, strategies, and protocols for working with a wide range of teachers in a variety of settings

If you cannot yet say a resounding YES to each of the following for all educators in your school or district, then this institute is for you:
  • All teachers teach mathematics and literacy so skillfully that every child learns with robust understanding.
  • All teachers and administrators see each other as allies and resources and work together to improve student learning.
  • All educators at every level in our school speak openly and honestly about our challenges and focus on results not excuses.
  • All educators share their expertise with their colleagues for the collective benefit of the professional community.
  • The craft and science of teaching well is at the center of all of our discussions.
  • All teachers visit one another’s classrooms and give each other feedback that improves student learning.
  • All educators collaboratively plan, teach and refine lessons based on the results in each classroom.

Who should attend this institute:

  • Teacher Leaders
  • Principals/Assitant Principals
